Dr. Mukonzo Kijumba B. Jackson
Jackson K. Mukonzo

 A Pharmacist with additional training in clinical pharmacology (M Sc.) and a PhD graduate of Karolinska Institute, Sweden /Makerere University Kampala. Employed at Makerere University, College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) as part of academic staff. Research / career objective is to optimize pharmacotherapeutic outcomes and minimize misuse of drugs through research and training.  Jackson has been involved in conduct of drug utilization, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenomics and pharmacoinformatics studies and has substantial experience in multinational collaborative programs. He has organized and coordinated the first two symposia on pharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic modeling of infectious disease treatments at Makerere University College of Health Sciences.  Jackson combines research and training experience with about 6 year-experience in clinical patient care at Mulago Hospital, Uganda’s National Referral Hospital which doubles as a teaching hospital for MakCHS.   Have participated in several care and research program development and implementation at both local and international levels including ; the Conrad International Microbicide research project which examined HIV transmission rates among women using a vaginal protective gel, the WHO TB-HAART study which examines the optimal timing for initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in patients receiving anti TB treatments, Mulago-Mbarara teaching Hospitals Joint AIDS project - a care program currently offering ART to several thousands of HIV/AIDS patients in Uganda.
